Could you please introduce yourself ?

Hey, I'm Drivepilot. I make noise.



Where does your nickname come from? How did you get where you are now ?

The name Drivepilot references "drive" as in gain or distortion, which my music is based pretty heavily around. Before Drivepilot, I was in several bands, and did production work mostly on the Rock/Metal/Alternative side of things. When I started to write music for this project, it naturally had that influence.I love how strongly music has the ability to elicit emotion so I I think a lot of the time a major component in my sound comes from taking a lot of distortion and trying to harness it, but balance it with non-agressive component and navigate between those sounds and basically jump around emotions a bit.



Which tool do you use for producing your sounds ? How do you compose your sounds ?
In the studio I usually use FL Studio for composition, and bounce the final mix into Cubase for mastering. I have been using FL Studio for nearly as long as it's been around and I find that it just works the way my brain does- I don't like fighting DAWs when I'm trying to be creative. I think that finding something you like, and just learning the shit out of it though is the way to go. As far as VST's and that sort of thing, most of the time I use the usual suspects like Native Instruments, Arturia, FXpansion. I like to use a lot of 80's synths and drum machines but run them through a lot of distortion. I do all my mixing/engineering/etc... I like being able to be in full control of the sound from the beginning to end so that way it stays as intended without outside influences.



How do you prepare your gigs ? How did the audience reply on your music ?

My live gig setup is done through Ableton Live.. I have tried many other different programs, CDJ's, etc- and I think that running Live as the core of my live rig has just allowed infinite flexibility, and I don't even use half of what it can do. I try to bring it hard live and so far the response to my music has been overwhelming live and otherwise.




Could you give me a list of your current favorites tracks ?

One of my current favorites is Skrillex - My Name Is Skrillex (Skrillex Remix) -- I love the 'euro-'electro sound he initially had, especially with the original of this cut, but the new dubstep-infused electro stuff he's doing is just unreal. This track has so much energy and is so meticulously produced and engineered it makes me physically ill. His La Roux remix is sick as well.

Some other favorites right now are Crookers - No Security, Daladubz - Pink Elephants VIP, Pance Party - Kim Jong Thrill, Cyberpunkers - OMG, and I never get tired of the classic shit.




How did your met your label TRACTION RECORDS?

I started Traction Records with Yushood Rockmore in Dec of last year.


Why have you chosen to name your last EP : “Savages” ?

We are all savages.


What can we expect of you in the near future?

FUCK YEAH! EP is out October 2010... It's got remixes from The Boomzers, F.O.O.L, The Mastertrons, NEUS, and Noize Generation. It's going to be pretty crazy. Lots more music on the way. Stay tuned.

girls!! na haaha im not gunna lie krftkds converted me and matt always told me mustard pimp inspired him but between me and you thats a lie matt is a machine haha

getting drunk! thats what happen last time and time flew by we forgot to play so by the time we were up the pigs rolled up

What do you think of American trash electro scene?

well my opinion its just getting started over here over there where matts from well i mean like all of like Austria and Italy is where i pretty much think it was born.

I loved it for so long and now its building up over here

its different if u ask me but there is no big artist yet they are all underground foos but to me they should be bigger than the Beatles .

Pouvez-vous vous présenter individuellement ? Quels sont vos parcours musicaux respectifs ?

Alors pour tout les 2 c'est a peut pres pareil depuis tout petit on écoutait de l'electro vers les 14. 13 ans on c'est interesser au monde de la nuit, ont a toujours eu cette fascination par ceux qui prod ensuite un peut plus tard le duo twocker avec ces nouvelle basse venu d'Angleterre sa nous a carrément lancé à vouloir faire de la prod.

Pouvez-vous présenter votre groupe ? Comment vous êtes vous rencontrés ?

On est 2 gars tranquile un peut je menfoutiste qui ce sont rencontrer en trainant avec les mêmes amis et les centres d'intérêt commun on fait qu'on a fait le groupe ensemble.

D'où viens le nom du groupe ?

De notre gout pour les mafias italiennes et des origines qui vont avec 

Comment composez-vous vos morceaux ? Quels logiciels utilisez-vous?

Dans la chambre de stefane qui nous sert de studio avec FL 9

Comment faites-vous  pour trouver des noms à vos titres ?

Ça viens tout seul comme ça defois c'est plus long on l'explique pas

Quelles sont vos influences ?

Le Hip Hop des année 90 , du reggae et des nom comme Switch , Crookers , Jack Beats , Basement Jaxx , Twocker , Rusko , Prodigy pour la plupart du temps tout ce qui viens d'Angleterre .

Est-ce gênant d’être sans label fixe ?

Non ça vas on se plaint pas on est pour la plupart du temps sur les 2 mêmes labels Bass boom record et slick slaughterhouse où nous venons de finir un ep avec un remix de belzebass ou encore nous venons de faire un remix de Shekel bon dj dub step !

Vous  écoutez  quoi comme musique  ces temps-çi ?

L'album de Rusko ou de sexion d'assaut ouai on varie les plaisirs 
sinon un bon petit remix de jack beats qui tourne en boucle leurs remix de little secrets

Comment préparez-vous vos concerts ?

Tranquilement  le jour même on finit de penser a ce qu'ont veut absolument jouer et puis voila sans pression un petit mcdo avant la soirée et on est content.

Comment se passent vos concerts ? Comment le public réagi ? Quels sont les titres qui marchent le plus en live ?

Le public réagi bien on essaye toujours d'avoir un set cohérent en fonction de ce qu'on aime et de comment le public réagit  je crois que le morceau qui a chaque fois fait réagir c'est where's my money de caspa.

Pouvez-vous vous présenter individuellement (parcours etc.)? Quels sont vos parcours musicaux respectifs ?

On est tous issus de plusieurs groupes, de divers styles, punk hardcore, punk rock ou rock, pour ceux que ça intéresse : Les Chiens Fous ou Les Putes de L’Autoroute par exemple … Nos groupe ayant splittés et la scène locale étant restreinte, nos chemins se sont inévitablement croisés, d’où la naissance, il y à maintenant 3 ans de Radio Maquis.

Comment vous êtes vous rencontrés ?

Autour du bar après un concert au Raymond Bar, dont on fait un peu de promo, c’est un endroit culte de chez nous, ou énormément de groupes ont eu l’occasion de jouer. On peut dire que c’est un peu notre repère. Notre rencontre ne pouvait que se faire la bas.

D' où viens le nom du groupe ? C'est une référence à la résistance française durant la deuxième guerre mondiale ?

Pour être concret : La radio représente la diffusion de nos idées et le maquis la résistance, on y trouve évidemment une référence à la résistance française car tout comme eux, mais à travers nos textes, nous nous opposons à des idéologies, et à un système en lequel nous ne croyons pas. Que ce soit autant au niveau politique, économique, social et on en passe !

On vous compare souvent à Tagada Jones trouvez-vous cela justifié ?

Non.

Quelles sont vos influences ?

On écoute vraiment de tout, et chacun à ses préférences, on peux dire qu’on adhère particulièrement au Punk Hardcore mais chacun trouve ses références dans divers styles, que ce soit du Hardcore, de l’Electro, de la Noise, du Crust ou même du Hip Hop.

Vous écoutez quoi comme musique ces temps ci ?

Comme pour la question précédente c’est vraiment divers et varié pour chacun, pour citer quelques groupes à la volée : Paint it Black, Raised Fist, Explosion in the Sky, Ataris Teenage Riot, Capricorns, Isis, Converge, Anti Flag, Fall of Efrafa, Tragedy, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Genghis Tron … etc etc !

Comment se passent vos concerts ? Comment le public réagi ?

En général ça se passe bien évidemment, concernant le public c’est assez aléatoire vu qu’on joue un « entre-style « , du punk mais pas que, du hardcore mais pas que, de l’electro mais pas que …Les gens qui se déplacent a nos concerts ont pas l’air de le vivre si mal que ça haha. Evidemment il y a bien quelques punks pour qui c’est trop hardcore et quelques coreux pour qui c’est trop punk mais bon. Dans tous les cas les retours sont plutôt positifs, on à pas à se plaindre!

Avez-vous des projets en cours ?

Ben justement on sort juste un vinyl 7 pouces split avec un groupe de Limoges : Myciaa, un duo electro punk de copains, déjà en vente ou très bientôt (en fonction de la date de publication de cette interview). On prépare aussi une tournée de 2 semaines dans l’Europe de l’est pour septembre 2010, on travaille dessus actuellement donc les dates ne sont pas encore fixées. Et On projette aussi l’enregistrement d’un nouvel EP dans le courant de l’année qui on l’espère verra le jour fin 2010 début 2011 ! Après tout ça on va se mettre à la préparation d‘un album, le tout agrémenté de concerts un peu partout et en avant !

-Hi, my name is borkia, and i'm not really gay.

Who made up the band name ? Is it inspired by Belzebuth ?

Yeah it's inspired by our Lord Satan, the only one god of Metal music.

We had mix belze, from belzebuth, and bass, because we love infernal and nasty basslines.

How did the band get formed? How did you meet yourself ?

We met ourself for the first time in highschool first day, and we became already BFF like Paris and Nicole, cuz we were very stoned.

May you describe your music ?

We don't know what we are really doing,but we mix our influences in a genre called by us:ELEKTRODEATH"DIOPORCO"CLUBCORE

Which tools and softwares do you use for producing your tracks ?

We use FL9 XXl, audacity, some vst, novation xio synth, lsdj, an home made talkbox. 

What are your main influences?

All the SIDECHAIN MASSACRE producers, cyberpunkers, huoratron, mightyfools, data, moshpit, tekone, rusko. 

Your sound is violent, you seem to love metal music, have you ever thought to make a metal band ?

Before"belzebass" project, we played in a few death metal and hardcore band, now we have a project called "sturobox" but it's nothing of serious,moreover sucks!!it's only to just give vent to our creativity!

What are your favorite metal/hardcore/punk bands ?

as blood runs black, asesino, pantera, raised fist, cripple bastards, suicide silence,slayer,slipknot(album slipknot and iowa), elvis, death elvis.

How did the band get formed? How did you meet?
 -We (OB-one & J.Paul) originally met from dj'ing together @ a club in Salt Lake. We were both doing production on our own & realized that we had similar musical interests, musical backgrounds, & work ethic so we decided to collaborate...the rest is history as they say.



Who made up the band name? Has it a special meaning?

-It was a name that I (OB-one) had on ice for years that I had always wanted to use. We both agreed that it seemed to fit what our goal was musically, to create havoc indeed!!!



How do you prepare for your gigs?

-Our live show is very important to us so we rehearse every chance we get in between our track deadlines. Our ultimate goal is to have a complete live show where we create all the elements to our tracks.



How does the audience react to your music?

-We have gotten great response to our tracks. We try not to limit our tracks to a particular style so we can reach a broader audience. We try to create something for everyone, if you will.



How did you meet Skaught Perry and Theresa Joy?

-Skaught and I (J.Paul) have worked together for almost 10 years in various musical projects. We originally met in 2001 when Skaught's band came into the music shop I was working in and his former guitar player stole a guitar from me. After some ass kicking, we all ended up jamming together...

   -We met Theresa through my (J.Paul's) lady, Mary Mahan. Mary was serving Theresa at RA (Sushi restaurant) where they began to talk music. Next thing ya know... "Vindicta."



How did you meet your labels?

-I (J.Paul) have been doing various remixes/originals for "Dance Music Label Carrillo Music" for 3 years. When Ben and I started going full force, I hit up Rod (CEO of DMLCM) and "suggested" no more "J.Paul" remixes and that he needed "HavocNdeeD" instead. Thankfully, it only took 1 remix to twist his arm.

 -We started the "Play Me" relationship through Ben's hustle. When we started putting out tracks, Ben started blasting and when we eventually met with Play Me, we loved their overall drive, honesty and game-plan.



What can we expect of you in the near future?

-We have a lot of stuff in the works...tons of original tracks & remixes...& hopefully from those many shows will come about. We're just trying to get our name out there & pay our dues ya know.



What do you think of american dubstep scene?
-The American dubstep scene is young & unique. It's very exciting to be a part of something in it's infant stages & see it develop. It's definitely growing quickly & breeding many great artists each with a unique sound.

Could you please introduce yourself?

The names Leo and I'm from a lovely little town called London.

What does your nickname mean and where did it come from?

It's pretty self explanatory, but It's more the name of my mecha than a nickname for myself.

How did you get where you are now?

Well I'm still pretty much a nobody in terms of fame, but production wise, just years of practice and help from other producers i've met online

.

May you describe your music ?

when people ask me this, I just tell them I make dirty electro...

The best description of my music is the music its self, so I tend to show people part of a track and then say "thats what I make"

Which tool and software do you use for producing your sounds ?

I use Reason Rewired into Ableton

How do you compose your sounds?

I try to start each track differently, so that the tracks wont end up sounding too samey when they come out.

But on the whole I tend to find a nice micro sample and slowly build the track up around that.

What are your main influences?

SebastiAn, the legendary Justice, Teenage bad girl (who need to get back into action mind you!)

but over all I tend to get inspired by individual tracks by separate artists. Justice and Sebastian are exceptions though hah.

Could you give me a list of your current favorites tracks ?

Oliver Huntemann - 37 Grad, The track that pretty much got me into dance music, and its still one of my favorite tracks today.

Huoratron - Gbay, except the drums are a bit weak, so I've done a drum edit for personal use everything by Bonobo

How did the audience reply on your music?

well I haven't played out too much, so I don't really know too well what people are going to think of my music, I've got some positive responses online though, so lets hope.

Have you ever heard of you on blogs?

I used to be on some blogs ages ago, but I don't think i've been on one in a while, need to start sending tracks to them again..

Do you love on Transformers ?

Wouldn't say I love them, I do however love big bad ass looking robots..

If you could make a soundtrack for an existing movie, what movie would you choose ?

I don't know any movies which my music would suit so I really have no idea

What can we expect of you in the near future?

Live shows!, Working on a live show at the moment, with bits of new tracks and old tracks completely re done, and lots of remixes and that should be fun,

Pouvez-vous vous présenter individuellement (parcours etc.)? Quels sont vos parcours musicaux respectifs ?

JeeJee: J'ai chanté dans plusieurs groupes metal dans le passé, notamment h-tray, line of sight, next on the list....ça a été de bonnes expériences musicales mais j'ai toujours eu un gros manque quant à mon style de prédilection qui reste de loin la musique industrielle. 

Math: j’ai joué en temps que guitariste dans deux ou trois groupes de métal du sud-ouest inconnus au bataillon et j’ai fais 10 ans  d’études musicales il y a quelques années.

Pouvez-vous présenter votre groupe ? Comment vous êtes vous rencontrés ?

Math: On joue du Digital Hardcore depuis décembre 2007. Sa a démarré entre Fab (chanteur) et moi à la sortie d’une répétition du groupe de métal pourri qu’on avait à l’époque, on a ressenti le besoin de jouer un son plus violent et plus electro, ce qui nous a amené à créer DFL. Medhi est venu s'ajouter en 2nd voix un an après et Jeejee est venu le remplacer 6 mois plus tard avec une place plus importante au chant. Dans un mois notre album sortira sur Industrial Strength Records en vinyles et digital, on a hâte d’y être!

Pourquoi Medhi est parti ? Comment s'est passé l'intégration de JeeJee ?

Math: Medhi est parti par soucis d’ordre personnelle, qui l'empêchés de pouvoir s’impliquer régulièrement dans DFL, à savoir qu’il était à l’époque et qu’il est toujours au chant dans Sihtu.

Jeejee a assisté à un des derniers concerts de Medhi avec DFL l’an dernier, on lui a proposé de prendre la succession qu’il a accepté direct. La touche de Jeejee a été radical, les voix hardcore ou aspirés apportent une putain de patate aux morceaux. 

D' où viens le nom du groupe ?

Math: Je me faisais lamentablement chier à mon taf, me suis mis à chercher un nom de groupe qui me faisais penser à du sexe crade sans rentrer dans de la vulgarité gratuite, et au bout d’un moment j’ai pondu DIRTY FINGERS LICKED. Fab a accroché donc on l’a gardé.

Lenny Dee décrit votre musique comme du Slipknot sous acides, êtes vous d'accord avec cette description ?

JeeJee: Je suis pas super enchanté de la comparaison parce que j'aime pas du tout Slipknot...mais je vois à peu près où Lenny Dee a voulu en venir. y'a de la guitare, des séquences,les chants sont saturés ...le raccourci est vite pris! je le comprend.

Math: J’ai beaucoup écouté leurs premier album, je me suis même abrutis dessus, le raccourci ne me déplaît pas, je ne m’attendais pas à sa, mais ne m’attendais à rien en particulier. Je ne crois pas avoir entendu beaucoup de comparaison à notre sujet.

Comment composez-vous vos morceaux ?

Math: je compose les séquences sur Ableton et Reason, pose 4 5 riffs hardcore indus voire punk qui vont bien, si Jeejee et Fab accrochent, on compose le chant. Les morceaux qui sortiront dans un mois étaient déjà composés à l’arrivé de Jeejee, il y a apporté quelques touches perso lors de l’enregistrement.

Quels thèmes abordez-vous dans vos textes ?

Math: Rien de concret, c’est abstrait, vulgaire et violent, faites en votre propre interprétation, on a pas envie de faire passer un quelconque message. Les paroles devraient être différentes sur les prochains morceaux avec l’arrivé de Jeejee.

Quels sont les groupes qui vous ont influencés et qui vous influencent ? (Atari Teenage Riot ? The Berzerker ? Moshpit ?)

JeeJee: ATARI TEENAGE RIOT!!! depuis toujours et pour toujours. je suis fan depuis que j'ai 15 ans et je suis aussi fan de tous leurs projets personnels (un peu moins fan de nintendo teenage robot, le projet solo de alec empire). ils ont carrément bouleversé ma perception de la musique. J'aime beaucoup berzerker aussi et en ce qui concerne Moshpit, je connais ce groupe depuis à peine 

deux ans...ça serait bien triste que je m'en influence! je les aime beaucoup, on va les voir dès qu'on peu en live mais leur son n'est pas assez radical pour m'influencer.

Math: je me suis mis très tard à écouter du Digital Hardcore, mais ce qui mis a donné goût c’est Atari Teenage Riot, avant de monter DFL je ne connaissais pas The Berzerker, un peu Moshpit. Sinon, je me lave le cerveau sur du Rotator, Pantera, Androgyn Network, Delta 9...

Comment avez-vous rencontré votre label Industrial Strength Record ?

Math: On a envoyé notre album chez Lenny à New York, il nous a envoyé un mail au bout de la 4iéme piste écoutés nous disant qu’il voulait nous sortir sur ISR, il a re-confirmé peu de temps après la totale écoute de l’album, à partir de la, on a commencé à sympathiser et entamer les négociations. 

Pouvez-vous me parler de votre prochain album ? Est-ce que l'on y retrouvera les titres présent sur votre Myspace ? Est-ce qu'il y a des invités ?

Math: Il y aura 10 traxxx de Digital Hardcore, des riffs Indus bien lourds agrémentés de beats Hardcore poussés par un chant haineux!

Oui vous pourrez y retrouver les titres présent sur le myspace ainsi qu'un remix d'un putain d'artiste d'outre atlantique. Vous aurez aussi l'occasion de voir un clip video de promo pour la sortie de l'album. Pour ce qui est des invités, sur cette album il n'y en aura pas, mais il y en a dejà un de prévu sur le prochain, lui aussi d'outre atlantique, ca va bien envoyer!

 

Comment s'est passé l'enregistrement de votre album ?

Math: Sa c’est très bien passé, à l’arrache totale, pas de moyens financiers pour faire sa en studio, on a vadrouillé avec les enceintes de monitoring sur le dos entre mon salon et celui de Jeejee, les voisins ont pris cher, et malheureusement pour eux c’est pas fini... Les prochains morceaux s’annoncent plus violent encore!

Vous écoutez quoi comme musique ces temps ci ?

JeeJee: La même chose que d'habitude, j'ai pas "d'humeurs" ou de "périodes" musicales. J'écoute de tout, metal, indus, rock...je me gave quand même énormément de Combichrist, il faut le dire! je crois que j'en suis malade même. Je suis très fan de Suicide silence aussi, j'écoute plein de trucs mais ces deux là reviennent tout le temps.

Math: Handzel und Gretyl, Neil Young, Rotator, Massive Attack, Micropoint, Suicidal Tendencies.

Comment préparez vous vos concerts ?

JeeJee: Je bois.

Math: Je bois (beaucoup moins que Jeejee) et je me fais craquer les cervicales.

Comment se passent vos concerts ? Comment le public réagi ?

Math: On a eut droit à tout les scénarios possible, soit tout le monde se barre, soit tout le monde est a fond, sa pogote, sa danse. Notre dernier Live a eut lieu au Pays Basque, sa s’est super bien passé, les gens ont bien accrochés, juste avant nous avons joué sur Toulouse c’était plus que minable niveau ambiance. Notre meilleur live a été à Vicenza en Italie, en terre inconnue, on s’est tapé 2300 bornes de bagnole et sa a été le feu. Par contre les pizzas étaient dégueulasse...

JeeJee: En ce qui me concerne j'en suis qu'au deuxième live avec D.F.L donc je peux pas trop me fier à ce que j'ai vu...par contre je dirais sans aucune retenue que la musique industrielle en général est très mal représentée en France et le public est complètement à la rue à ce niveau. Notre style de musique n'est pas très fédérateur pour la jeunesse française et le pantalon taille slim ainsi que la mèche emo sont super mal représentés dans l'indus...non, vraiment, on a rien pour nous. 

Avez-vous d’autres projets en cours ?

JeeJee: J'ai un groupe de deathcore à l'état embryonnaire depuis un petit moment et je fait de la musique aussi souvent que possible tout seul comme un autiste sur cubase.

Que pensez-vous de la scène digital hardcore actuelle ?

JeeJee: Y'en a pas! les groupes sont trop isolés les uns des autres, on se connait pas, les seuls qu'on essaye de voir dès que possible c'est les Moshpit mais on peu pas parler de scène.

Math: je suis d'accord avec Jeejee... et les dernières restrictions culturelles du gouvernement français n'arrangent rien!

Could you please introduce yourself one by one ?

HEIDI ROSE CANNON, nice to meet you!
Hi I'm John Bourke, DJ and noise maker of Trash Yourself.




Who made up the band name ? Has it a special meaning ?

HEIDI: John made it up on a whim. We were debating the damn name for too long with music we were dying to share with the public on myspace, you can't start a band page without of course , a band name. He threw it out and I agreed. I think the name has a kind of bad ass appeal yet does not take itself too seriously. It has no meaning accept the obvious which is go fucking trash yourself and live life with no regrets.



How did the band get formed? How did you meet yourself ?

HEIDI: Oh well anyone that is cool in the state of Oklahoma (middle of United States), knows each other. I am a very vocal and social girl, it is kind of hard to miss me. People know John Bourke as kind of the guy that throws the dance parties.. and me as the girl you won't forget at all the parties. We quickly became friends and the rest is history. We are both really weird unique individuals who were destined to do weird and unique things. Nature and natural chemistry bring these types of people together!


May you describe your music ?

HEIDI: A sexy girls voice paired with crazy talented beats.. leaving you both confused and turned on.



Which tool do you use for producing your sounds ?

JOHN:
Ableton and a extensive list of VSTs.
Avalon preamp and u87 for vocals
Krog MS-20 run through a culture vulture for some crazy distorted sounds
Talkbox sometimes
Mainly I do everything "In The Box".. on the computer.



How do you compose your sounds?

HEIDI: once again JOHN... and I can say that of course part of the sound is me just being creative on the microphone.. sometimes I yell something like die.. and the emotion behind it is enough to create a whole song around!!! go listen to die!



What are your main influences?

HEIDI: van she, unckle, sebastien tellier, maps, sneaky sound system, junior boys, glass candy, green velvet, heads we dance, the knife , our good friends ladytron and so so much more!! I love in particular many french sounding dance music! Of course old school dj shadow, depeche mode, portishead
JOHN: Some of my influences for Trash Yourself are Nine Inch Nails, Shiny Toy Guns who are dear friends of ours, Atari Teenage Riot, The Toxic Avenger, Ladytron, etc..



How did you meet The Toxic Avenger and Kill Hannah ?

HEIDI: Toxic was referred to John Bourke by a buddy of ours and simply made connections with him online from France.. Since then he has visited me a couple of times in Oklahoma and you would not believe how close we have become. Simon and I are practically soul mates and we are instantly transformed into best friends if not more (wink wink), when we see each other. Simon brings out an amazing energy in me that I can not describe. I met Kill Hannah guys through John Bourke and I can only guess that they met because John has a tendency to book performers to DJ his party that come to our home state of Oklahoma to perform concerts.



How do you prepare your gigs ?

HEIDI: We do not prepare accept to look within ourselves and say .. "I'm here to serve the purpose of blowing minds, this I will do as my natural duty as a bad ass human being"
JOHN:  Well put.




How did the audience reply on your music?

HEIDI: UM.. during concerts we are well liked.. people seem to really enjoy me adding an extra element to the boring dj scene. Online we are mega loved!



Could you give me a list of your current favorites tracks ?

HEIDI: I love the XX remix of Florence and the Machine you've got the love and also I love the dragonette and van she song pick up the phone
JOHN: Armand Van Helden's remix of "Dance the Way I Feel" is at the top of my list.  I'm liking a lot of disco house and minimal right now.



What do you talk about in your songs ?

HEIDI: arrogance, sex and youth revolt.



You are currently working on an album, what can we expect of it ?

HEIDI: Maybe that you might want to fuck someone. You can't expect anything because all I can tell you is prepare for the unexpected.



Having played in many different venues, and countries, you must have some crazy or embarassing stories to go with it?

HEIDI: No comment .. There are too many... I have done everything from watch a peeping sex show in Amsterdam with a Ladytron member to hmmm why don't I just not tell you .. because you don't deserve to know unless you come to a show and create a memory with me.

Interview du groupe Beef Theatre

Could you please introduce yourself one by one ?

Dave: I´m Dave :-)


Bene:Yeah, and I am Bene...We both grew up in Schwandorf,Bavaria,Germany and we now live in Salzburg,Austria




Who made up the band name ? Has it a special meaning ?

Dave: It was a accidental mistake... A friend of us said something about dream theatre and we both understood Beef Theatre. It was a really drunk evening, about 2 or 3 years ago... :) we cannot really remember about more.



How did the band get formed? How did you meet yourself ?

Bene: Oh we know each other for a very long time...we have been very good friends for about 10 years...we started the band as a fun project about 2 years ago when dave bought himself a Korg M3...you know we both were bored of spending our daytime in front of the television or doing computer games all the time and soon we noticed that there was more behind it then just messing around on the Korg...So Beef Theatre was born...




May you describe your music ?

Dave: Hmmmm.. I would say alot of PAMPAMPAM and POWPOWPOW :)
It is the style of music we both really like the most. We see our music as a mixture of Electro and Punkrock! In the best case our listeners should feel like dancing and rocking the whole time when they listen to our tracks. The most important for us is that the listeners feel the same emotions like us!!! Party hard!!!

Which tools and softwares do you use for producing your tracks ?

Bene:First of all a sixpack of beer and lots of sports cigarettes ^^
We are producing with Ableton 7 and lots of Vst Intruments and Effects.Moreover we have a Korg M3,a Midi Keyboard and a Midi Controller which are linked to the Proramm.And everytime when we find a good Sample we use it of course in our Tracks.



How do you compose your sounds?

Dave: Sometimes we start a new track alone and sometimes we start it together, It depends on how we have the time. Mostly we are searching for a rocking synth at first and then we play some melodies to a "four to the floor" beat. When the track is getting its structure we usually work together on the details of the track.



What are your main influences?

Bene:Basically everyting...When i was about 12 years old i started listening a lot of Grunge sounds and when i grew older i was more into a bit harder and heavier stuff like RATM,Pantera,Metallica,Refused and more of those kind of Bands...My passion for electronic music started as a teenager with Chemical Brothers,Prodigy etc. and it totally blew me away when I listened "Waters of Nazareth" by Justice :-)

Dave: I listened to a lot of rap and hip hop music in my youth. But i also liked pumping rock acts like RATM and stuff. But with all the years, hip hop music is getting more and more lame for me. Then there was a TV show called berlin house and it influenced me. So i was sitting at bene`s flat (like the most days in my youth) and we listened to chemical brothers, fatboy slim, Oizo`s Analog worms attack etc. And we were both totally into it! And then there was waters of nazareth...

Nowerdays our music is influenced by acts like Boys Noize, Justice, Stereo Heroes, Bloody Beetroots, Fukkk offf, SebastiAn, Mustard Pimp, Toxic Avenger, MSTRKRFT, Dirty Disco Youth, Disco Trash Music, Acid Kids and and and...

How do you prepare your gigs ?

Dave: We haven´t had any gigs yet but we are starting to play live in April 2010...Hellyeah!!!

Bene: No gigs,no audience...but a lot of good feedback on our Myspace site which is our motor to make more and more sounds




What do you think of german electro scene ?

Dave: As in every country there are acts we like and we dont like. But we dig it that the electro style is getting more and more accepted and that it makes the people go crazy on the dancefloor. 



What can we expect of you in the near future?

Bene: Hopefully playing live as much as possible and a bunch of new tracks and rmxs.
