Interview du groupe Ass to Mouth

How did the band get formed ? How did you meet yourself ?
Well, there is no big story following it, I met Jarek in our previous, so called “side project”, and we decided that we want to do some grindcore together. We asked our firend Pablo to join us, he brought our first vocalist Sandro with him and that’s it. First rehearsals in December 2004, first shows in May 2005. The rest is history J

Your band name is very ordinary for a grindcore band, is not it ?

Frankly, I never thought about it. It sometimes make some “controversy” at punk rock scene, we are not able to play on every show, on some squats, and so on. I can understand it and I don’t feel offended, although we are not, and never were porn grind, or even gore grind band.

 

Don’t you think your band name complicates research about your band on the internet ?

When I write our name in google the first record is our myspace page, so I don’t think so. If someone is looking for excuses to watch some porn, he will always find it haha J

 

How do you compose your sounds?

We meet on rehearsals, bring our ideas together, and that’s the whole process

 

What do you talk about in your songs ?

Alcohol. We are disgustingly monothematic.

Your band seems to be more influenced by crust/punk than other grindcore bands, is not it ?

I don’t think so, good grind must be punk, and there are dozens of great grindcore bands that are absolutely punk influenced – from Napalm Death to Magrudergrind.

What are your main influences?

Old gxc, punk, hardcore, power violence, thrash, and probably some good groovy goregrind bands, there are few of them only, like for example Regurgitate, but for sure they inspire our groovy part of music.

Could you give me a list of your current favorites tracks ?

If it’s about grindcore I listen mainly to new Phobia’s “Unrelenting” EP, it’s absolutely perfect. Raw,  furious & punk – grindcore the way it suppose to be.

How do you prepare your gigs ?

We do rehearsals and that’s all! We don’t have any figures that we must practice in front of the mirror J

What can we expect of you in the near future?

We are recording new full length now, it should be finished at the beginning of 2011, but I don’t know yet where and when is it going to be released. Before that we should finally release our split 7” with our friends form czech’s Jig-Ai, this winter at Bizarre Leprous Prod.

What do you think of polish grindcore scene ?

It’s quite good and there are many great bands here – Parricide, Suffering Mind, Neuropathia, Dead Infection, Squash Bowels and so on. You should probably know most of them, if not, try to make up for it as soon as possible.

Having played in many different venues, you must have some crazy or embarrassing stories to go with it?

Most of embarrassing stories are connected with alcohol, and being drunk on stage. You know, it’s always fun, but only for band members, so now we try to avoid these situations as much as we can.

Is your band name “Fukpig” an insult to some men who wear blue suit?

Nah its an insult that was thrown at me in my last job, from my boss.





Your music is described as a mix of grindcore, crust and black metal, but your last album is not very « grindy », isn’t it ?

I would have said it was grind.





The video of “Sadism in the name of god” and “The horror is here” are very strange and old-school, where they come from ? Do these videos have special meanings ?

They come from an old 1920s film, i think they have the same feel as we try to create with Fukpig.





How did you meet your label “FETO Records” ?

 Feto is run by my brother Mick Kenney.





How do you compose your music? Is it true that Misery write all the stuff ? What do Migg and Drunk do?

Misery writes it and records it at his Devizes studio, then we take it to Necrodeath and record the vocals and miggs lead guitars, then Migg masters it and then its done. We work quite quickly.



How do you prepare your gigs?

We practise for a few weeks before we play, we have only played 3 gigs so far.



How did the audience reply on your music?

 They seem to really like it.





What do you think of crust scene ?

I think its brilliant, especially the old Extreme noise terror and Disgust.





Have you ever listen bands that play a mix of punk and black metal like yours ?

 I havent heard any yet, i would love to though.



Having played in many different venues, you must have some crazy or embarrassing stories to go with it?

Not really, we have only played 3 gigs as Fukpig so far.




What can we expect of you in the near future? 

A third album, already half written. the vinyl editions of the first 2 albums coming out soon, in fact Belief is the death of intelligence is being posted out this weekend. and a split single or 2.

Pouvez-vous vous présenter individuellement (parcours etc.)?

Kevin: Salut donc perso c'est Kevin,batteur du groupe!J ai joué ou joue encore dans plusieurs groupes de divers style,allant du punk rock aux brutal death!

Adrien:hello moi c'est Adri et je braille dan le groupe!!

Alex : Salut, je suis Alex le guitariste.J'ai surtout été pris par FSFFY pour augmenter le capital sympathie du groupe afin qu'ils puissent avoir plus de fans et se taper plus facilement les madames (pour l'instant ça ne marche absolument pas!)

Pouvez-vous présenter votre groupe ?

Kevin: FSFFY est né il y a de cela un an environ,lorsqu adri et moi avons enfin trouvé le temps pour avoir un groupe de grind ensemble!On se connait depui nos 5 ans donc il était temps!Nous avons donc commencé le groupe sous forme de duo,pour finir sous forme de trio puisqu alex nous a rejoint il y a de cela quelques mois.Alex occupe le poste de guitariste,Adri n officiant désormais qu en tant que chanteur alors qu il était guitariste/chanteur a la base

D’où viens le nom du groupe (F stands for fuck you) ?

Kevin: FSFFY est le nom d un morceau du groupe de grind Skarp!A début nous cherchions avec adri un nom de groupe contentant "fuck you" sans pour autant sonner bateau,et a ce moment j étais en train d écouter justement skarp!D ailleurs petite anecdote,les mecs de Skarp eux memes nous ont contactés via notre page myspace pour nous dire qu ils étaient honorés qu un groupe de grind se soit inspiré d eux!

Comment décririez-vous votre musique ?

Kevin: Alors a la base on va dire que pour adri et moi le but était de faire un projet grind a la napalm,nasum et pig destroyer.Ensuite

Alex est arrivé et nous a rajouté une petite touche "rock n roll",qui sera bien plus présente sur le 1er album du groupe,a paraitre on espere début 2010

Alex : FSFFY c'est avant tout du rock!!

Comment se passe la composition de vos morceaux ?

Kevin: Bah les morceaux se composent assez vite!En gros l ep a du etre composé en une apres midi en temps effectif!A l époque c'était uniquement adri et moi qui composions vu que nous étions un duo mais il en est de meme avec Alex depuis qu il est dans le groupe,nous sommes tous les 3 sur la meme longueur d'ondes et la composition du 1er album se passe vraiment tres bien!

Alex : Quelques morceaux ont meme été composer avec une gratte acoustique lors de soirées beuveries,Kevin se servant de son torse comme batterie!!

Quels thèmes abordez-vous dans vos textes ?

Adri:Généralement les chansons sont très courtes alors il est difficile de décrire quelques chose précisément mais disons que pour faire original j'ai choisi de gueuler des truc qui me foute les boules vis a vis de ce que je vois ou vis tous les jours.Généralement les textes sont écrits à la dernière minute, ils sont donc tres simples et c'est justement ce qu'il me plait, j'ai pas envie de me cacher derrière des métaphore ou quoi que ce soit !Le mot d'ordre est FUUUUUUUCK, et tout est déja dit dans le nom du groupe...c'est pas original et on s'en branle...

Vous écoutez quoi comme musique ?

Kevin: Perso j écoute pas de musique,j écoute du grind!héhé!je suis ultra fan des trucs genre Insect Warfare,Nasum,Afgrund,Pig Destroyer et compagnie,donc du grind plus ou moins mélo jusqu a l ultragrind!...mais également assez branché hxc genre Converge,qui est d ailleurs le groupe qui nous rassemble tous les 3!Je suis également assez fan de groupes plus "posés" mais non moins extremes type Kylesa,Baroness,Breach ou encore Electric Wizard

Adri:Moi j'écoute toutes sortes de trucs allant de chose tres calmes a des choses tres violentes...Il n'est pas rare que je passe d'un bon vieux Jack Johnson à un méchant dillinger ou encore des truc grind genre nasum ou bien rotten sound....Sinon ben Converge est une référence ouais au meme titre que Incubus ou Dredg pour ma part...meme si je peux passer pour une tapette dans le milieu!!! (encore une fois tout est dit dans le nom du groupe)

Alex : Dans les styles qui nous rassemblent je dirais principalement converge et dillinger sinon pour ce que je préfère (et que kikou déteste) c'est plutot dub, électro, rock n roll, pop, rock, rap, jazz et des truc de bassistes.

Avez-vous d’autres projets en cours ?

Kevin: Je joue également dans un groupe de death métal qui s appelle Benighted,et qui devrait sortir son 6e album début 2010!

Adri: Avec Aleks on à 2 autres projets ensemble , bien moins connus que benighted cependant: un projet rock/dub qui s'appelle Keirdä 2.0 et un projet acoustico romantique(!!),Doorsfall.

Comment se passent vos concerts ?

Kevin: Pour l instant nous avons fait 4 concerts,et tous se sont bien passés!Faut dire que nous partagions l affiche a chaque fois avec des betes de scene: Rompeprop,Origin,Blockheads et Mumakil!!Pour débuter,il y a pire!!

Est-ce que vous avez un album de prévu ?

Comme je te le disais plus haut,on espère sortir un vrai album début 2010!Par vrai album je veux dire au moins 20 morceaux!On a déja pas mal avancé dans la compo, cela reste dans la meme veine que le 1er EP avec peut etre une touche "converge" plus présente,mais le tout restant tout de meme dans le rouge niveau tempo!!

Il y a une tournée de prévu ?

Kevin: Malheureusement non pas de tournée réelle,juste des dates uniques a droite a gauche!On essaie de contacter le max d asso et on verra bien ce qu il se passe!De toute facon l été sera assez calme vu que la plupart des concerts sont des festivals!Mais a la rentrée on repart de plus belle!on est dors et déja confirmés le 26 septembre au lyon s hall a lyon avec The Arson Project(des futurs grands!!!) et Xaros!

Que pensez-vous de la scène grindcore hexagonale et mondiale ?

Kevin: La scene grindcore francaise se porte vraiment bien!On a quand meme des putains de groupes!Entre les Blockheads,Inhumate,SCD et autres Massive Charge,on est quand meme assez gatés!!

Pour ce qui est de la scene mondiale,c est la meme!Il y a vraiment des putains de nouveaux groupes qui émergent!Insect Warfare(RIP!)Afgrund et The Arson Project font parti des meilleurs découvertes ces dernieres années!Puis les vieux de la vieilles sont vraiment au top!Avec le retour de Brutal Truth,Napalm qui envoie toujours le paté,et Rotten Sound qui a retrouvé la peche sur cycles et qui est une vraie boucherie sur scene, on ne peut pas dire que la scene mondiale se porte mal!De plus il n y a qu a voir le nombres d affiches énormes qui se multiplient en matiere de grind pour voir que tout va bien!!(cf affiche obscene 2009 !!!OUTCH l affiche de malade!)
